General Information 

    Our channel is #rphaven, located on the EsperNet server. It is the official channel of RP Haven, and is the channel our members visit regularly to chat about various subjects. It was created by GeminiSaint in April 2006 when the site was first registered. While we ordinarily talk about RPs, video games, and our random Internet travels, other subjects are open for discussion unless prohibited by the rules laid out below.

    To access the channel, you'll need an IRC client or program. mIRC for Windows is a popular one, or you can use a java client like this one instead (make sure you specify the server as www.esper.net). ForteBlast of VGMusic has created a tutorial on how to use mIRC, or you can view our own Dr. Gate's essentials for getting into the channel.

Rules

    To keep some form of harmony in the channel, we ask that you follow these rules. Also, make sure you follow EsperNet's rules, unless you want to be banned from the entire network.

    Do Not Spam: This includes repeatedly typing the same line over and over again, copy/pasting one website link after another, running a script that is constantly outputting text, abuse someone else's script, etc. Spamming will result in an immediate kick. If you're spamming by quickly joining and leaving the channel multiple times, you'll get a five-minute ban.

    Do Not Link to Pornography: Just don't. Most of our visitors are under the age of 18. Linking to porn will result in a five-minute ban. Repeated offenses will extend the time period. Repeat this too often, and the ban will be permanent.

    Do Not Advertise: This is a rule enforced by EsperNet itself, and breaking it may result you in being banned from the entire network. Inviting friends to another channel for a conversation or a game is allowed, as that is not considered advertising.

    Do Not Flame: Flaming other users (needlessly calling names and such) will result in a kick; if the behavior continues, a ten-minute ban.

    Do Not Use Excessive Adult Language: Most of our visitors are under the age of 18, so we ask that you please refrain from using adult language, or, at the very least, censor yourself with ****. When Ricky is in the channel, six of these adult words (you may ask for their identities in the channel, I will not list them here) will cause a script to activate and give you a warning. Once you receive five warnings, the script will automatically kick you out of the channel. If you use the words simply to abuse the script (which qualifies as spam), you'll be given a five-minute ban.

Notes

    Thalzon, GeminiSaint, Ricky, and CtrlAltDestroy are ops of the channel, and thus have the power to kick or ban you if they feel necessary.

    We are unofficially affiliated with #vgmusic, which is another channel on EsperNet that our old friends from VGMusic frequent.

    While religion and politics are not forbidden subjects, please keep in mind that they are very sensitive subjects. We rarely have a discussion that doesn't result in some sort of fight, so try to avoid stepping on anyone's toes during such discussions.
