The city of Venishe is in the middle of a war with the darklings, and Winter Arrena, with a large group of friends, realizes that the cause of the war isn't as cut-and-dried the city has been led to believe. Started by Thalzon on Monday, November 21, 2005, and finished on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, this role-play was one of the most character-driven stories on the board.

This is an odd RP for me... On the one hand, it's typical fantasy fare
with an overabundance of characters, and a less-than-epic plot. On the
other hand, it really came out exactly how I wanted in the end, though
how THAT end came about wasn't how I wanted to do it... Am I still
making sense?

No, it wasn't the first RP of Thalzon's that was successful (of course,
his first successful RP has to be the one that I don't join), but
I'm glad that I joined into the story, as it did turn out very
enjoyable. During this period I actually smartened up as well, teaching
myself to keep up with the RP stories I joined. Only thing I'm
disappointed with is because of the VGRP --> RP Haven move, just when
the RP had ended, I never got any chance to write a fitting epilogue to
my characters. Pity.

Well, I have to say this RP was a very good one for me as an role-player. It was fast paced, fun, good music, good writing overall. I put a lot of soul into it and even wrote a few songs for it, namely my characters. Conrad and Sheila were really their own side story for me to kind of just go off on. I ended up creating a pair of characters that went together well, and though I didn't plan on it when I first started, they were lovers. This RP has to be the best at the end. Which is good a strong ending is good for a story. Also the Tournament Episode was quite awesome. Good concept Thalzon.

Firstly, let me say that I enjoyed this RP greatly. Of course, there are few RPs I haven't enjoyed, but nevertheless, be it the fact that it was rather non-complex (plain old fantasy, no rules to speak of, etcetera), the story (not the greatest, but wicked nonetheless) or just the evil genetic experiments near the end, I liked it. Oh, and I like Vlad.

Venishe was great. I had a lot of fun with it, even though I joined about halfway through. The characters were very dynamic, my favorite being Chyaltze. He was cool, calm, and owned his enemies with an arsenal of toothpicks. That says it all. My favorite moments came from the Harvest Festival Tournament. The matches were intense (and the fact that my character emerged victorious may have something to do with it). The ending was "interesting," but overall Venishe went very nicely.
Ace was the seventh, and last, person to join History of Venishe. He wrote 5.94% of the story, doing so in fourteen posts. |

In
History of Venishe, I found a rare opportunity to participate in a pure
fantasy RP. You just don't see those much anymore, or at least not many that
succeed. I think Venishe went along pretty well, but the majority of the
last few chapters seemed pretty contrived and unnecessary. Well, not
contrived, just hard to follow. I fell out at the end because really I
felt that whatever was going to happen was going to happen, and there
was nothing I could do to change that.
Multiball was the third person to join the RP. He wrote 5.51% of the story, doing so in eighteen posts. |

History of Venishe is an awesome story, in my opinion. The characters were all very interesting and fleshed out, more so than what you usually find in stories. Of course, this is thanks to the large number of subplots involved, which all managed to somehow coexist and complement each other, which is generally a rarity in roleplays. As a result, the tapestry-like story of History of Venishe is full of depth, and is extremely good, even during the tournament chapter (tournaments are, by a fault, rather boring for those not directly participating). The plot twists at the end, while out of left-field, were doubly exciting and actually worked very well. I really enjoyed reading this story, and I think the players should all give themselves a big round of applause. Well done, guys. |
