Archive of the RP Awards

Back in March 2005, when we were simply the Role-Playing and Fiction Board at VGMusic, Matthias came up with the VGMusic RP and Fiction Board Awards. The system is quite simple: he lists the categories, and over the course of the next week we nominate the RPs and/or fictions we feel are deserving. Once the week is up, Matthias posts all the nominations, and we vote for the ones we feel was best. At the end of that week, the winners are announced in a humorous, random awards ceremony of sorts.

We do the awards every six months. In August 2005, we had another run, this time at VGRP. Naturally, the awards were renamed to the VGRP Awards. And we had another run in February 2006.

We are set to do yet another installment in August 2006, once our gracious host returns from vacation.

This page keeps a record of the winners of each installment of the RP Awards. It's for archival purposes, really, and since I keep mentioning the RP Awards in the Fun Facts section of the Hall of Fame entries, it simply makes sense to give readers access to the knowledge.

So, without further ado, and I'm sure I've bored you by now, here are the winners of the past RP Awards!

VGMusic RP and Fiction Board Awards, March 2005
The very first installment of the RP Awards, created by MatthiasKinnearLawrence (now known as simply Matthias), and taking place at VGMusic. Because this was the first, people were allowed to nominate any RPs and fictions that had taken place in the history of the board. However, due to the lack of recognition, fictions didn't fare well at all. In the event of a tie, Matthias would cast a deciding vote.

    The second installment of the RP Awards, again hosted by Matthias, and the first to take place at VGRP. Three new categories were introduced this time- Best Fiction, Best Villainous Male, and Best Villainous Female. Naturally, fictions got a bit more recognition this time, due to the separation of RPs and fictions into their own boards. This time, in the event of a tie, both nominations would win. Oh, and, starting with this installment, only RPs and fictions that had been active since the last Awards were eligible. Anything before was not.
