Introduction
Jean-Pierre is back in a fully enhanced and extended version of his original Adventure! The original quest of yore has been greatly expanded upon, and it has now become Jean-Pierre's largest, most expansive adventure yet!
Just like the other BISI games, The First Mission was programmed using 100% QBasic language, featuring colorful VGA graphics. It's a new beginning in the series, indeed. So, here it is; the revamped beginning of Jean-Pierre's legend has finally arrived! Witness the true story
behind our favorite knight's first mission!
Jump into the mythical land of Galia and have fun!
Story
This is the story of a man. A man who lived in the land of Galia, long, long ago. His name was Jean-Pierre LeBlanc, and he was a knight. A knight who lost his fighting spirit after his father's untimely demise. Yes, Jean-Pierre was a knight who had ceased to fight.
One night, he found himself lost in the silent remnants of a ruined dungeon. Confused and disoriented, he wandered about, looking for a way out. This, my friends, is how it all began...

Jean-Pierre hadn't put on his suit of armor since the death of his father, but he can't refuse a request of his king. Maybe this is the adventure that will awaken his dormant fighting spirit? |
The good king of Roud, this man is well-known and well-respected. After all of his other knights failed to retrieve a mysterious treasure that was stolen from him, King Victor turns to Jean-Pierre, his last hope... |
The royal sorcerer in King Victor's court, and one of his most trusted men. Dharkan is usually found in his private quarters, brewing potions for sale. |
This wise old man is the Elder of Roud town and a reliable ally. He will help Jean-Pierre as much as he can. After all, he was a royal knight too in his young days. |
The land of Galia

This is the place where the game takes place. The land of Galia spreads far and wide. In his quest, Jean-Pierre will journey into deep forests, ominous mountains, hidden villages, ancient temples, and much, much more. You, taking on Jean-Pierre's role, will be able to experience these vast landscapes with your own eyes!
Below you can see descriptions of some of the many areas of Galia waiting for you to explore them.
Oh, by the way, you can click on the picture to the left to see the map in full size.

| Roud Town |
Galian Fields |
Great Plain |
Araucaria Forest |
Dragon Mountain |
| This is Jean-Pierre's home town. Roud is a peaceful town built around the majestic castle of Roud, where the good King Victor dwells. |
The beautiful Galian fields spread outside Roud town's walls. There are some ancient ruins to the west, and a great dam to the east. |
A vast plain that stretches wide between the Galian fields and the Galian seashore. The mysterious Ice Shrine can be found to the northwest. |
This forest spreads far and wide. Its trees have formed intricate mazes in some areas. Rumor has it there's a hidden village to the southeast. |
The largest mountain in Galia. Its base houses a gigantic cavern complex, and the ancient Dragon Shrine sits near its summit. |

DOSBox users
| |
|
|
| Windows XP Professional (and above) is unable to run non-32-bit programs such as this one. However, for this purpose, DOS emulators such as DOSBox exist! So, if you can't play this game natively because you have a non-backwards-compatible system such as Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista, you can use DOSBox to play it!
I recommend using DOSBox v0.65, since it's guaranteed to run this game perfectly fine. Earlier versions won't work, and later versions may cause slowdowns and lag in gameplay.
You can download DOSBox v0.65 here.
|
|
If you are using a clean install of DOSBox, it is possible to run the game by simply dragging AZMR.EXE's icon and dropping it over DOSBox's icon! The game should then run automatically. Alternatively, you can run DOSBox first and follow the instructions provided in the program's documentation to mount a C: drive, then use DOSBox' command line to go to the folder of this game and run AZMR.EXE.
You can increase the emulation speed by hitting Ctrl+F12. The current speed is shown at the top of DOSBox' windows, as "CPU Cycles". However, the higher it is, the slower everything else becomes. You'll have to experiment and see what setting your system can handle before hogging too many resources. In my case, I have the emulation speed set to 10,000.
